Hastings-on-Hudson, New York – June 19, 2018 King Garden Designs launches a new internship program to promote landscape education and experience. 

King Garden Designs, Inc. increases its impact in the fields of landscape design and higher education by launching a Landscape Desi­­gn Internship Program. The paid internships offered by King Garden Designs are crafted to include hands-on experience with all stages of planning, designing, planting and maintaining gorgeous, ecologically sustainable landscapes in the Tri-State area. The King Garden Designs team is actively developing assignments and assessments to allow future accredited partnerships with top design schools. King Garden Designs hopes to impart true artistry of design while providing interns with the tangible skills for the level of entrepreneurship required of landscape designers in the field.

Landscape Architecture major, Andrew Sparby, joins the King Garden Designs team this summer as its first inaugural Landscape Design Intern. Andrew is assisting with project management, design development, project estimating and tending the office garden. King Garden Designs enjoys sharing professional expertise with students in an internship program setting. They share their expertise in: landscape design and planning, street tree design/planting and care, specialty pruning of ornamental shrubs and trees, espalier and orchard pruning, topiary and hedge pruning. Internships with King Garden Designs are valuable to those interested in a career in landscape design, arboriculture, horticulture or garden care.

The results of a Tree Risk Assessment provides tree owners and risk managers with the information one needs to make informed decisions about trees; increasing safety for people and property, while enhancing tree benefits, tree health and longevity.  

King Garden Designs' owner, Charles King Sadler, has become Qualified in Tree Risk Assessment (TRAQ), an International Society of Arboriculture Qualification Program that trains Certified Arborists how to use the methodologies outlined in the ISA Best Management Practices for Tree Risk Assessment.

This specialized qualification consists of a 2-day educational course followed by a ½ day assessment that includes both a written and field component. This qualification also promotes protecting the safety of people and property by providing a standardized and systematic process for assessing tree risk.

Betsy Gicquel bolsters King Garden Designs senior team ranks in the role of expert design consultant. She supports the multifaceted practice through web design, project management and support, graphics, entrepreneurship and horticultural expertise.

Betsy Gicquel's extensive knowledge began formally with her degree from the University of California, Davis in Comprehensive Design, which provides her with the background of graphic and architectural design. In addition, Mrs. Gicquel owned and operated a successful art studio in the Princeton area of New Jersey.

Her background in art, design, math and small business ownership makes her a great asset to the growing team; serving the Eastern United States and beyond!

King Garden Designs' owner, Charles King Sadler, is proud to serve on the Tree Preservation Board for the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson in New York. The Tree Preservation Board serves in an advisory capacity to the Superintendent of Public Works, the Building Inspector and the village's Planning Board.

Charles Sadler's extensive knowledge regarding Street Trees makes him an asset to the Tree Commission.  King Garden Designs provides ISA Certified Arborist services as well as online resources and learning options regarding Street Trees.

Katherine Sadler joins the team at King Garden Designs, Inc. to manage business operations for the practice.

Mrs. Sadler brings administrative expertise from her work in the field of higher education administration, most recently as Assistant Director of the Juilliard School's Alan D. Marks Center for Career Services and Entrepreneurship.

Mrs. Sadler comes from a family of gardeners and believes in the sustainable preservation of ecological systems from gardens, to farms, to parks.

Currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education at Teachers College Columbia University, Mrs. Sadler will be expanding King Garden Designs' life -long learning educational offerings as well as educational outreach in the urban agriculture and sustainable gardening field.
